Sultanpur National Park - the beautiful country of Birds
Located 46 kms south-west of national capital New Delhi, Sultanpur is a bird watcher's paradise. Sultanpur was declared a water-bird reserve in 1972 and upgraded to the status of National Park in 1991. Today Sultanpur is a beautiful country of birds, which is covered with lush green lawns, trees, shrubs and masses of Bougainvillea. The park is home to a large number of birds and animals, which can be seen wandering, swimming or flying around the lake or other areas. On bird watching tour one can easily spot Grey Pelicans, Cormorants, Grey Herons, Pond Herons, Egrets, Painted Storks, Black-necked Storks, White Ibis and Spoonbills. Migratory birds like the Siberian Cranes and European Geese can be spotted in winters, when they visit the park in large number. Besides bird-watching, the park has provided the facilities of an education and interpretation centre, a library, films, slides and binoculars. boating facility is also available in the lake situated within the park.

Fauna of the Park
Sultanpur National Park is mainly a water-bird sanctuary which is home to Local and Migratory bird species. Migratory birds found in the park are Siberian Cranes, Demoiselle Cranes, Ruddy Shelducks, Pelicans, Flamingos, Bar- headed Geese, Spotted Sandpiper, Darters, Grey Lags, Gadwalls, Mallards, Pochards, Shovellers and Teals. Local birds found here are Plovers, Red-wattled Lapwings, Herons, Cormorants, Egrets, White Ibises, Spoonbills and Painted Storks. In addition to the bird species, the park is home to a number of animals which include Leopard, Sambar, Nilgai, Mongoose, Blackbuck, Hog Deer, Caracal, Wild Dog, Wild Cat, Striped Hyena, Hedgehog, Indian Porcupine, Blue Bull, Rattle Badger, Wild Pig and Four Horned Antelope.

Flora of the Park
The park has tropical and dry deciduous forests, which consist of Babul, Savannah grasses, Acacia, Jamun and Banyan trees.
